I haven't been on here for some time, I always appreciate and respect everyone's input. It is a model Hydro-Gauge Dynamometer p-400 serial number 2357. Any help would be appreciated. |

Have the same dyno. I'm sure that it uses standard hydraulic oil. Need to warm it up under light load until the gauge is in the green and then turn the water on under load.
Sitting shouldn't hurt it.

My P2000 has a list of hydraulic oils that are suitable for it to be accurate. The list is located under the storage cover on my unit. I simply went to my oil supplier and gave him a couple of the numbers off the list to use for cross reference. As long as the oil in yours isn't burnt or water contaminated, I wouldn't get too worried about it. Basically any hydraulic oil will work, just the ones that are recommended are for the best accuracy.

What is a M&W P400 in good operating condition worth?

I tried to buy one about 6 years ago that the oil had a slight burnt smell, and quit bidding at $1250. If I remember correctly I've seen a couple sell (including that one) in the $1500-$2000 range. Here's the contact info from Yesterday's tractors of a guy that repairs and sells dynos. Sales,Service & repairs, parts specializing in M&W Dyno. Pete Holtgrew 712-490-2920

I have a P400 M&W dyno. It is missing the storage cover which apparently lists recommended hydraulic oil. Can anyone tell me what oil is recommended for this dyno? I know it's been said that any hydraulic oil will work but I was curious what is actually recommended.
Thanks. |

If you are still looking I have 1 for sale located in NE South Dakota, Great shape and lightly used. It has not been used in 10+ years so I'm not entirely sure if there are any cracks in the hoses, but no HYD oil under it. glass is in all guages. SN - 24753 model P-400A M&W Hi capacity Hydra-gauge Dynamometer. Let me know if your still looking for 1 and I can get you pictures another way. they are too big for this site.
