Where used to live the VFPD lost SEVERAL brush trucks as winds changed direction and fire overtook the machines, luckily no one got injured then. MUCH better to send in the Dozers and cut fire corridors FIRST.

well, I guess I left out a lot of the big info, holds 1500 gallons 1500 GPM pump, so,, you could unload in 1 minute if ya got enough hoses laid... lol. has front 'sweeps', sprinklers on top, (??), monitor on the front, all controlled in the cab. the pump and roll is limited to like 5 mph, then the pump drive will disengage, you must stop, then it will re-engage. this will prolly be more of a support to brush trucks(type 6) than actually chasing the fire line, even tho its 4 wheel drive and is equipped to, I think its just to big and clumsy for chasing a grass fire, JMO. this is more for structure fires, and hopefully help up our ISO rating, which is 7 now

Congratulations! That is NICE! Especially with the powered drop tank rack. What chassis, engine and transmission? How many SCBA's and do you have an on board generator? With 1500 gallons of water you will probably be close to maxing it out on weight with the single axle once you get it fully equipped. That unit is too pretty to be running across the fields. It should definitely help your ISO rating. especially if you have enough tanker support from automatic or mutual aid to get a lot of water on the scene in a hurry. Were you able to get a grant to help with the funding?

DJ, hell yea,, them boys do good work....
Hubert, not sure how many SCBA's, but, prolly at least 4, the little doors above the rear tires are extra bottle storage, on both sides. freightliner chassis, cummins engine, auto trans. yea, its prolly real close to need to be a tandem rear axle,,,we also have a 3000 gal tanker, with support 3000 gal drop tank, 2 initial attack/W 1,000 gal+ lotsa local mutual aid, all with the dump valves, 30,000 gal local storage, + 30,000 at a substation,, ought to be good... I'll hafta get you pics of the SCBA compressor in the station,, (its impressive)and also have a cascade in our 'rehab/support trailer, yea, we' getting there.... yes, we have received grants,, but I don't think any specific for this unit, most have been for equipment and upgrades,,, them SCBA's and bunker gear ain't cheap....we had to replace a lot of so called defective SCBA's, at cost,,, somehow the warranty didn't work, had to do with the locator beeper thing...
