I was out at the farm today to "fire up" the equipment. I started looking at the traction belt that goes from the main counter shaft, over the "idler" pulley and down to the tranny input . OMG, if that belt needs replacing, how does it get "squirreled" onto the tranny pulley with the brake mechanism within an 1"of that brake assembly ??

Luckily it's not a needed repair, I just happened to look down and noticed how close the pulley was to the brake "tower" Smile. In hind site, I think the variable speed is in the "upper" end of the speed range, so I "assume" that in a slower range, the pulley will bet a little farther away Big smileBig smile ?? Thanks guys

Mack, I wondered about which sheave moved on the "bottom end" Smile I just can't imagine "jamming/contorting" a brand new belt between the outer sheave and that brake tower Confused . Thanks for the reply Wink. Any idea of how much hydraulic fluid, if any, would be lost when disconnecting the "upper" end of the drive system  to get the belt over THAT pulley ??  
Sadly, I'm the one that has greased the 2 fittings on the lower end for the past 12 years and NEVER noticed the clearance until this past weekend CryCry
