I bought a Cub Cadet 782 last year. It will not fire. Turns over well. Put new coil on it, no change. I haven't got a manual for it yet. I know some of these had a troublesome switch or two. Any of you guys out there have one of these? What is most likely killing the fire? Thanks Tracy

Tracy, I have a 782 that is my favorite mower tractor! It's just comfortable for me. On the no fire, would guess the usual suspects? Points, condenser? The deck engagement switch could be a problem, have fought that a time or two. Also have a 1450 and a 1650 CC. Got a new switch off E-bay once that was backwards! 1650 would start if the pto was engaged but not if it wasn't!

Maybe the seat safety switch, the one where if you lift your butt off the seat, it kills the engine?  Maybe look for a bare wire going to one of the safety switches, maybe a mouse had lunch on the wire during the winter.

Grayray, I don't think they have a seat safety switch. One other possibility could be the 'neutral start switch'. My 1450 if you don't have the brake pedal in just the right spot it won't start!

It has a seat switch and the neutral pedal switch. Checked both of them. Has a pto switch lockout also. I wonder if the ignition switch has went bad. Heard that they were a problem. Any help appreciated. Thanks Tracy

Always happy to help. If yours has a higher serial number, that website has another wiring diagram....

Don't Know which one you got Serial# wise, but here's a site to download 4 different Operators Manuals.
