I was riding around yesterday, comin back from town and i drove down this road where we used to pick some "Yummy" in the barrow ditches,,,and,,,Lo and Behold I spot some Yummy coming up where we used to always pick some great ones,,!! I bailed out and go check ,,,,Yep,,,another 2-3 days and I'ma gonna get me a handful there,,SO I go check some other places and YES,,it there too,,!!. What I'm thinkin is to take my shovel and maybe dig up some of the crowns and see if they will transplant to my back yard ok,,,,???

Late friend LOVED that yucky stuff soooo much, he used backhoe to dig two 100 foot trenches 3 feet deep. Bottom 2 feet ,in went , well rooted compost, top foot was beeutiful garden soil. Those two patches are still growing after 40 years. I saw them on a satellite picture the other day....... Jay

Was on a site digging a basememt for new house and large area of aspargus in one corner - used HD5G bucket to dig about 6" deep and slid that full patch into bucket .
Came home with the machine and for couple years it produced then finally just kind of died out . The wild stuff seems to be lot thinner and doesn't seem to spread much |

Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.

I had a spot pop up in the yard about 5 years ago. I've been tending it and helping it along. This year I'm hoping to be able to get a meal at a time out of it. Joe, if you left it there, it'll probably be gone when you go back!

We have a row along the driveway that I just added to a year ago. If you dig some when you plant it you are supposed to wait 2 or 3 years before you start cutting it so it can get established.

If I remember right you can plant it where your water softener dumps, because of that grass and/or weeds don't grow so well there but asparagus will.

our patch is getting bigger each year, we harvest it as long as it produces, and we get some mighty big ones, we water it most every day, and when they start just putting out little skinny shoots, we let them grow and go to seed. good luck Joe...them wild ones is still the best tasting!

My Mother has a small strip of it along the edge of her garden spot. We generally get a few messes off of it each spring. I'd love to have a big patch of it, maybe an acre.
