I am working on rebuilding the carb on my accountant's cub and have encountered a warped top half on this IH carb. I have two more for parts and they all have this same problem. Obviously they have been over tightened many times through the years. Has anyone tried to straighten these successfully?

They will usually break if you try to bend them ----Have gone thru that with many cubs here! Some guys say that IF you are real careful----they can be bent a little. As much bend as you have----not lookin real promising, but you can try a little and see what happens and figure it will break. What I did on a couple was to mill the highest places off and use extra gaskets to get original thickness of the top. It did work but not something that I was proud of having to do. I think you will find that most of them will be damaged. I used to have some extras here but got talked out of them, so all I have now is the ones on the 6 cubs I have left.

A very common problem on 80% of Cub carbs. Engine heat was a contributing factor. I have never been able to straighten one. Find a vendor selling new replacement carbs and put the old one on the shelf as an antique. Finding a good original IH carb that's not warped is getting near impossible.
