I have a D17 series 3 and have finally gotten around to fixing/getting the lights to work. But the light for the pressure switch on the instrument panel that comes from the hydraulic pressure switch does not work. The wiring is correct and have tested the wiring going into the switch and it has juice. Is there a way to test this switch to see if it still works? And does anybody know if there is any replacement for the switch if it doesn’t work. Does Agco still have them available.

Check to make sure the light works first - very common for water to get in there and rust things up. Yes the pressure unit is readily available through AGCO and some vendors here and they are pretty cheap too, so you are in good shape.

AGCO p/n 70240150. I assume it is a 5 or 7 psi switch that if you walked into a NAPA store with the old one in hand, they would have one on the shelf.

If I remember correctly, that switch just completes the path to ground for the light. So, if you take a jumper wire and ground out the terminal, the warning light should come on. Can at least know if the rest of the system is correct anyway. I suspect it is if you have 12 volts at the terminal. If the light comes on when ground it out and doesn't come on with clutch pushed in, then switch must be bad.

I can't place our 17 haveing a light but remember neighbors 170 having light. Where is it on the 17

Can someone explain what/why this particular light is "important"? Does it signify that the hydraulic system is not putting out enough pressure? I would think that slow lift arms/remote cylinder response would tell the same?? Our XT and 180 don't have this light,but now am curious if it's a green bulb?? Thanks

It indicates that the lubrication pump is working. Nothing to do with the regular hydraulic system.

Not many (or any) on the 100s, but the 200 did use a red light and green light. Red light comes on when engine oil pressure is low. Green light is for transmission oil - stays lit constantly during normal operation. My D21 has this same set up and it is confirmed in the owner's manual. Dunno why they made the green light stay on all the time...

200's that had a turn signal switch also had a small green light to indicate that you were using that feature, just as a reminder to turn it off when the turn was completed. I don't remember if that was for cab tractors only. If not,then the 185 and 175 might have had it too. Turn signals might only be on late series tractors as a safety issue??

The series 3 and 4 D-17's and all D-19's had this red light, which indicates that lube for the Power Director clutch was circulating thru the hydraulic filter underneath the battery. It was an effort to clean up the new and larger hydraulic compartment by filtering the hand clutch area, even tho the hydraulic pump was in the forward portion of the compartment. I'm not sure if the spin-on filter was plugged if the red lite was turned on or not ?? All the pre series 3 D-17's had the same lube pump inside the Power Director clutch area, but no filtering of the oil.

the wire off the pressure switch creates a ground, its a normally closed switch, when oil pressure is applied the switch opens the ground goes away and the light goes off.
