If the rear rims are good, it is probably worth $1000, but it depends on what you are planning to do with it. It's worth it for parts.
If you are thinking of trying to salvage, (don't walk) run away from it.
Rebuilding the engine (doing it right) will cost about $1500. Then you don't know if the transmission has problems, or any other major part, for that matter.
Most of these tractor, there was a reason someone quit using them and parked them.

It all depends on how much a person wants to put into it. Looks like it needs something done to it front to back. If you could get it unstuck and give it a little test run it would make a difference. Leon

yeah would probably be a small fortune to redo it.....I got bigger priorities. But would be nice to have my own parts tractor if something goes wrong with my series I

Its in Never Never land to much $$$ to spend on it to get it going and too much $$$ for a parts tractor for me.I'd be a buyer at $600.

Good running early D17s only bring $1500 at auction. I would question the power steering. Engine doesn't run, the steering might be junk. Rims and tires have value. Front grille will sell if it is nice. The rest sits on the pile with little interest.

The gear shift boot is probably crap, allowing water to be inside the transmission/differential. $500 would be too much for that dog.

I'd go 550. As my prior supervisor would say... 'four lug bolts is better than three'...
But really, yeah, a guy could put lots of money into it, but let's say you wanted a really good, solid, working tractor... you could put $5000 in parts and several months of evening/weekend labor in it, and when done, have a good solid working tractor...
Or you could spend $40,000 and get something new, modern, and overcomplicated...

Well I know he could get $500 just for the WFE, so I can see why he is asking $1000k. The sum of the parts is greater than the whole value. Know what you mean Dave, The shiney new stuff doesnt do much for me...more stuff to go wrong, lot of plastic to get broken.

If I had the money I would save them all. $500 would be tops for me as well. After several refurbish project AC’s it doesn’t take long to get some serious cash in them. With that being said, I would take my old AC’s over any new tractor on the market. They just don't make them like they did back in the day.
Make an reasonable offer pointing out all the unknown possibilities. He just may take it.

Go on and get it. What else ya got to do this winter? I feel the same as Dave you can invest some money into it and have a nice tractor for a tenth of what a new tractor in that HP range would be.

Yep have an engine off an E Gleaner right here,having a engine off an E Gleaner put in a D17 Series IV now so they'd make a good pair.
