I have a WD45 that has hole in the original radiator. Has anyone bought one off ebay?https://www.ebay.com/itm/Radiator-Allis-Chalmers-WF-WC-WD-WD45-70228587/233023738899?epid=15011440565&hash=item36414c1413:g:8moAAOSwsupb~gMD. I use it a lot for making hay. Please share experiences .thanks Dan.

Gone one through Rick Corder on here. Fit right in, the only problem I had was the overflow tube. It wasn't exactly where is should have been. Otherwise I was REAL happy!! It was cheaper than on ePay....

I've boughten a handful of new after market ones. Most from steiner tractor parts. They have been good. Just ordered another one Thursday.

Rebuild it then you would know what you have. It may be a coin toss on buying new quality wise.

I'd rather have it recored but that's not as easy as it used to be.The good shops are disappearing.

If you never want to touch it again, get it recored. I would never buy anything like that off e-bay. Lot of people think it will fit until you try to put it on. Questionable quality too.

There's a new aftermarket radiator that has a cast iron lower elbow I believe is better quality than they used to be, I know DJS sells them maybe others.

Meyers Radiator Shop in Raymond, IL. is good. Check out Amazon before you buy. Search "Allis Chalmers". Saw radiators on there a couple days ago.

I purchased a new radiator for my wd45 but the threads do not work for the temp sensor. Wondering if any of you have had the same issue?

Are the threads boogered up or are you saying they are completely different? Might need a tap to chase the threads and clean them up?

I was quoted 500 dollars to have a WD radiator recore recently. The shop owner suggested buying a new one for about 200 dollars.

A few years back before I used Syracuse Radiator locally, in Frankfort, NY, I bought one off eBay and it has been great.
But for a LOT less money, LOCALLY, I'm going to get the old one repaired as a spare. I don't know what shipping both ways would run you, but here's a thread I started about the shop... https://www.allischalmers.com/forum/radiator-shop-plug_topic162783.html? Might be worth looking into, I have no idea. Good luck! |
|
I need more than 200 characters for my "signature." I'd love to see that changed to 250!

Well , I had to repair a leaker on dad's original 49 WD. Radiator shopquoted $500 for recore and $187 for new import. Warned tanks might not be useable as looked like soldered cracks at stiffener ribs. Turns out tanks were just too iffy to use. Put the cheapy in and so far so good. Just a scoop tractor that doesn't see many hours but gets used a lot. That was only a couple months ago so time will tell. Fit okay.

Watch threads for temp guage . Purchased new radiator for wd-45 and threads for temp guage won't work. Had to put a brass plug in to use until can figure out how to make guage fit. Did purchase new guage same thing

I dropped the $500 clams for a radiator that looks like an original (cast bottom spout and everything). So far, no regrets.

I purchased two repop Radiators. Both seem to be fine after 4 years on the one, and 6 years on the other. Looks like Steve M. is doin' okay to so far on his Rad also. I dunno', its a toss up. Whatever floats yer' boat. A couple of the long time Radiator shops round here are now gone. Sometimes you don't have a choice depending on where you live.....
