Exhaust! Look at your manifold and follow the cast tubes.
You have an exhaust valve and then the intake for number one. The next valve is the intake for number two then the exhaust. The intake valves share one port and each cylinder has its own exhaust port. ![]() The intake valves are larger. ![]() Edited by Dick L - 03 Jul 2019 at 6:26pm |

Intakes are larger, not exhaust.

Could be. Do a simple test... Turn off the fuel, pull all the spark plugs, connect them to their respective wires, and place them away from the plug holes. Turn the hand crank, and observe all plugs, verify that they're all firing. Install ONE spark plug, thread it in about three-four turns by hand, install plug wire, and turn the crank. Observe spark at all OTHER plugs... when you cross top center of compression stroke, make sure you don't see SOME OTHER plug fire. if so, disconnect that plug's wire from distributor cap, move it to the plug that's installed. Remove this plug, insert next one, and repeat 'till you're out of plugs... and note that your mag should CLACK just AFTER you've passed peak compression... not before, and not way after. (if it's off by much, then there's something afoot in the mag's timing) then turn on the fuel, spray a bit of starting fluid or spray oil into the carb throat... it should pop right on, at least for a couple cylinders, to let you know that it IS timed and wired right.

Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.
