Hauled in a load of iron... $80 bucks a ton for prepared steel (3 ft and under), and $40 bucks a ton for unprepared. And they wouldn't pay on steel cable, but would take it for free.
Seen a 6BT 2 valve with spun rod bearing with an Alisson auto trannie hooked on behind, and an old FWD truck there... and a mountain of scrapped iron. Guess they are holding off from hauling in to the big scrappers themselves. ConfusedLOL
and No, sadly I did not see any 55 chebby Nomad rear bumpers for DJ... Unhappy

In southern Michigan we’re looking at 10 dollars per ton. Talked with a couple of scrapper guys that’s all they are getting. Local scrap yard doesn’t even have a price posted on the road sign.

Scrap iron yard right next door to where I work is busier than heck. Two or three times a week the railroad takes anywhere from two to four cars full of scrap iron away and brings em empties to fill. They have about a half dozen of them boom machines moving iron around. They must have three or four of their own semis hauling iron in, plus there is a pretty steady line of oilfield outfits and farmers hauling iron in. I keep a pretty good watch out for any orange iron coming in. Haven't seen any so far. Darrel
