hopefully the link works... Ebuses get recharged using windpower... what got me was that the wind 'farm' produces 260MW occupies 20,000 ACRES !! Sso I'm wondering how many people could be fed off those 20,000 acres

What PGE will not tell you of the Wind Farm is that at any point in time 10% are in reserve for replacement to those additional 10% out for maintenance or failures and should wind become erratic from Ground Heating caused turbulence the entire system within the turbulent area shuts down. As the units come back up 1-3% fail to establish back on grid and must have repair crews proceed to them.
So a 450mw potential wind farm on average delivers less than 350mw at any given point in time. As I read the article it also noted a entire FIVE of these buses are being placed in service as a test. Edited by DMiller - 16 May 2019 at 6:41am |

local old coal fired plant near here is same size, and covers 200 acres... or 100 x SMALLER. ............ that would leave 19,800 acres for something usefull !!

If you look at the picture of the wind generator, the ground around it is still being farmed, at least 95% is still usable farm ground. I've got a friend near Limon, CO with 31 towers on their place, went online last November. Last I heard all the ones are working, along with 90 others in the area. They will be receiving between $5,000 and $6,000 per tower, per year. Making a big improvement in their bottom line, and helping the tax base of their rural county.

Not electric, but we have some CNG buses running in Omaha. I'm friends with a driver. They did not anticipate not being able to carry enough fuel on board! He says they have to run them on short early and late runs because they have to refuel middle of the day! Plus, they have to drive them about 10 miles one way to a fueling station!

Metro did that here too, all those are now gone as took 3-5 hours refueling to keep from building static and developing to much friction heat. Engines would only go 50-80,000 miles and erupt, drop valves, eat cylinders, nasty. And Cummins.
