Working on a Cub Cadet Zero turn with a Kawasaki engine, there is a solenoid in the bottom of the carburetor, any one know what it does?

I believe it’s a safety device that stops fuel flow when the key is off. I have drilled one out to make it run.

anti-dieselling solenoid...
also used as gas shutoff valve to
PITA most of the time..
B&S ones are OK, Kohler ones...I remove the rubber from the plunger...then add inline gas shutoff valve.
With ethonaol in gas, water's at the bottom of the tank..migrates to the carb bowl filled with alum, steel, brass,?? and electrolysis corrodes the stuff into a huge mess. Cheaper to replace carb than clean out(easier too..)
Oh yeah.... WHEN ( not IF) the oil level is really high, thin and smells gassey and the engine won't spin and the 'full' gas tank last night is empty, well, you KNOW the solenoid has leaked.....

The bad side of one that does not work is, it will keep flowing gas into the carb, and flood it, thus if a valve is open, start and dump fuel into the crankcase.  That is not good with gas and oil overfilling the same case.  I have a B&S that I just put the quarter turn shut off inline fuel thing, twist it wait a few moments, and starve the gas out of it.  Keeps the ethanol gas out as well.
