Thinking about adding one of these to the hay operation instead of another disc mower. We cut timothy, orchardgrass, alfalfa, red clover, fescue, pearl millet, wheat, teff and Sudan. So about everything. Has anyone ran these over many acres in less than perfect conditions, over say 100 or more acres per year.

I was thinking of the farm king, since they offer the 9foot cut. Looks just like the enorossi that's made in Italy.

They are not marketed down here, but a German made double action one was back a bit before my time. Those that used them said you could mow at twice the speed you could with single action sickles, and no matter what the crop, the bar would not clog up. They mowed around right angle corners like disc mowers. If the Farm King/Enorossi is as good as them. they would be an excellent mower.

We use a new holland 499 at the farm mow about a 1000 acres including 22 miles of road side. They cut wonderfully only time I've had a clog was cutting a Russian olive tree. We carry a extra set of blades but I've never changed one in the field. We do put new sections and guards at the beginning of the season. It's not something you want to connect and reconnect so it stays hooked to one tractor, the hyd pump is quite heavy. Sinc it's a swing bind you can just go back and forth on the field just star at one side and work your way across. It cuts 17' a swath we roll two together with a 34' vemeer rake and bale the next day.
