HD7 ENGINE CONVERSION

   Ok..thought we should share this with you. Our friend Dennis Gullick..who is better know as a Cletrac collector....also has a Allis Chalmers HD7 in his collection.He's had it for many years and the engine was tired when he got it. Having trouble finding the parts he needed to work on the 371....he found a late model 471..with turbo! that he couldn't pass up

So with modifications to the main frame...fabricating a spacer..he was able to use the same frame.

The bellhousing bolted together ok
The original radiator was used.
We found a dry type air cleaner off a HD11B SERIES direct drive farm tractor (one of our donor tractors) that looked like it would work. 
Might have to tow a portable generator to run these antique lights that look like they belong on there.
The hood had to be extended and modified to fit...also some different side panels.

So this is the end game. To be able to pull his Allis Chalmers C44 scraper. We also were able to find a better rear hydraulic unit (BEGE)from a HD9 donor tractor that we have.
This is the same scraper that we pulled with our HD6E in 2011 when we started cleaning sediment from our pond...or the "Allis Chalmers Playground" as we call it LOL...should be some posts back there some where.

	Dang!!! that garden hose out front there sure sprung some serious leakage!!! Now were you boys going to scrape the water up??? Sure is cool to see what others can do... wonder if he could have tucked the air cleaner under the hood and left a 'clean-out' hole in the there on the right side and poked the stack through the hood... It has to sound cool with that turbo on her. Any videos of her runnin? Thanks Mel

	Excellent. Well into the 'hot rod' division. Up there with Tad's 6V71 powered HD11B.

	Very nice! Drive train should hold up to that power as a towing machine but put a dozer on it and not so much. Double the HP?

	any "T" on a Detroit is added cool factor. Had a 8V92T in a cabover IHC. Was an impressive combo! Low end grunt and quick! Would horse a load down the road too!

	Well done, it looks great, funny, take off the exhaust and with the extended hood it has almost the same lines as a 14, just a bit smaller. The HD 7s didn't have a great reputation around this area and I don't know why, most of them like this one has some trouble with the track frame bushings, same with the 10, but I like my 7 and for me, nicer to run than a D4, something with my feet and the brake pedals. What is next a 6V53 in an "M"?
