I delivered my first loads of hay with my new pickup. Exceeded my expectations! I have a 20' deck over pintle hitch trailer that I load 15 4x4 round bales on. The old GMC was at about maximum tow rating. My new truck is a RAM 2500 and rated at 12,000 towing. With the big Hemi it does not lack for power and fuel economy is better than the 6.0 liter GMC. This is my first Dodge/Ram truck as in the past I always had GMC/Chevy and Ford. Overall I am pleased ,now to find out how long the truck holds up!

Good to hear. I bought a 2500 with the 6.4 last year. Handled the camper great. Haven't tried it on a hay load yet but hopefully before to long. I'm tickled with mine too so far

Will be needing to replace my 20 year old Ford soon enough, maybe next season, likely will be another Ford but Gasser this time as just do not drive it enough with loads heavy enough to warrant anymore.

I drove F350 6.4 powerstroke with a Boss V plow when I worked at MDOT plowing Truck scales and park and rides . I didn't like the regeneration of the particulate filter and the new diesels have blue fluid that has to be added. My Ram has the 6.4 Hemi which is 410 hp. and 429 ft. pds. of torque. That is plenty of horsepower for me! I know others like the diesels and they do have more torque and a diesel was $7,000 more. I can buy a lot of gas for $7,000 and diesel is a dollar more with no increase in mileage. Also oil changes are more expensive and parts and labor is more on a diesel. I really have no use for a diesel. Someone else wants one by all means buy one !

Glad to hear you like it, if you're like me, the more you drive it, the more you will like it.I drove Fords for forty years, at least 15 new ones and several used ones, everything from F100's through F800's, gas and diesel, after watching the quality of the product being aimed at the camper and horse trailer crew I decided it was time to look around and bought my first Ram in 2015, a single cab 3500 4 x 4 work truck, liked it so well I bought a 2500 Laramie Longhorn Southfork last year and couldn't be happier, mileage is excellent and power is fantastic, and cheaper than Ford and Chevy, unless something major happens, I won't be shopping elsewhere. The 3500 is my work truck and I still drive it all the time, pushing 100 K now and still looks and drives like new, unlike the Fords that were feeling loose and showing wear at that point.

We picked our new 2500 Dodge up this afternoon which has the 6.4 motor. Don’t need a diesel any more, just pull the goose neck and our camper. Hope we like it as well as we did the 2007. This’s the first new truck we’ve had in about 40 years.

I've always questioned the value of a diesel pickup.  Seems like a lot of guys bought them because they could get a 1000 hp out of them but really, how many people need that kind of power?  Plus the extra cost of the engine, more expensive service, higher fuel cost and not all that better mileage all point to diesel pickups just not being worth it.

I agree John. I know people that pull big loads and use a diesel pickup in place of a truck for flexibility. Me being conservative a diesel just doesn't pencil out!We had a Dodge Caravan years ago and I hope this new Ram holds up as well as that vehicle did! The Caravan had a Mitsubishi engine and I used to warn my wife to not drive by a Navy Recruitment Office or a US Post Office on December 7th or the Caravan might turn into a Kamikaze!
