I have a d17 coming in here to the shop soon, I'm actually going to pick it up tomorrow.   The owner, a guy I worked for in college had it on his feed mill a while back and when he took his ear protectors off he found out it was knocking pretty bad.   I would guess a rod or main bearing.   It surprised me as I always thought it was a pretty healthy d17 when i used to run it.   Anyway I'm gonna tear it down and see what's what.   If it's real bad im gonna be looking for an engine as he doesn't wanna spend any more than he has to on it. He's a dairy farmer so right now money isn't plentiful, but would like to get it going again.   So I'm wondering what's out there for running engine for this. It's a series 1, but I think any running g226 we will consider as long as it's healthy.   Im located in SE MN, so hoping to find something relatively close. Thanks in advance

Well yesterday I finally got some time to get the oil pan off. I figured it wasn't good when I turned the engine upside down on the engine stand and parts were floating around.   Looks to me like the rod cap bolts came loose on number 1. Crank is junk, rod is junk, and number one sleeve is junk.   Kind of a shame because it looks like this was overhauled not long ago. Not sure what he's gonna wanna do with it.   Matt I sent you a PM about the engine you have, did you get it?

I'll still looking for an engine for this d17. Anything from a wd45, d17 or e combine that runs and is healthy is what im looking for. Thanks
