Are these difficult to repack? I've done the ones on the three point of the 175/185 before but these look like they might more difficult?

the ends thread out put 2 punches in the holes use a pry bar to turn end out if you have the tool it works great or hammer and punch to turn out then pull rod out

1st one is a learning experience, the next 499 are easy ! ![]() hay, give me a break, my back is destroyed and the THOUGHT of having to look at lifting one cylinder ,let alone LIFT it has me 'down in the dumps' . |

I've done a couple and it was obvious what happened to the seal one fell apart , others had chunks out of them

I have never done cylinders of a 500 loader, but have done different ones that have the screw in gland up front. The last one I did, I had to enlist help from the neighboring repair shop, and his rose bud. I had made up a spanner to fit the holes in the gland, but couldn't hold it and turn it. We ended up putting a 4 foot cheater on my home made spanner and heating the OD of the cylinder to nearly dripping, before it broke loose.
After that, replacing the innards and reassembly was a breeze. For the spanner, I just drilled a hole , big enough to fit over the rod, in a piece of flat stock scrap. Then drill 2 small holes to press a pin in, matching the center distance of the holes in the cylinder gland. Next, cut off part of the end, so the big hole can be opened up to slide on the rod, and weld a handle to it. |
