Hey guys I swapped transmissions in my two Chevy pickups. I took the transmission from my 2000 k2500 and put it in my 1997 Chevy k2500.
The 97 is a snow plow truck. I've noticed while plowing snow that she times while shifting from reverse to forward that the transmission has to think a little bit before engaging. Once it engages it's in. I don't think it's slipping. But it does not do this all the time. There are times this works flawlessly and then next time it gets it in its head to do this extra thinking. Might I have a bad transmission range sensor in the side of the transmission |

probably dirty oil sticking one of the valves... Drain and flush MIGHT help.. CLEAN fluid is always an advantage.

Did you do anything with the cooler? 4L80E is notorious for the TCC in the converter coming apart and clogging the cooler. A clogged cooler will make them act strange, delayed shifts, and ect. |

There should be no computer that needs to be changed if I remember right. I was taught the range sensor was the computer.
No I did not change the cooler. Reverse band broke in the old one. Never gave the cooler a thought. The shifting might be fantastic for half hour and then the next few shifts it may take longer to shift. But when it does it shifts nice and firm. No banging and no sloppy easy slipping into gear. That's what made me think of a bad range sensor. Because the trans wouldn't be told what gear I went to. |
