Hello,

I bought an 1983 AC 5020, a few months back. This is my first Tractor. It came with an Owner's Manual.

Some of the fluids listed in the Owner's Manuals, I'm not finding locally. I'm looking for alternate fluids. What fluids can I use in place of the below AC fluids?

- Engine Oil: CD(DS series3) Class oil
- Trans/Hydaulic Oil: Allis Chalmers Power Fluid 821
- Anti-Freeze: Permanent Type Antifreeze
- Gearbox: SAE90 gear lube

Thank you,

Rich

I use Rotella engine 15w40 I think is what I use.

I just use whatever Hyd fluid is on sale.  But any should be eual or better thab what you need.

Just regular green antifreeze.  I also include some anti-cavatation fluid.  Not sure where it's available, my friend gave me a bottle of it.  I normally drain the coolant, and then add the amount of fluid needed for the capacity and then add the 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water.

80/90 weight gear lube.

In addition there is a lube requirement for the injector pump.  I don't remember what oil I used, but I was surprised when I found out about it.  It should address it in the manual.

Very nice tractor by the way.  Sure wish mine was like that.

For the injector pump the book says add engine oil, so I guess it's any old oil.  There is a drain plug, a full plug and a filler cap on top, labelled "OIL".  It takes 3 oz.

Nice...I can probably get these at the local Tractor Supply.

I was lucky to find this with only 428 on the hour meter gauge.

Thank you. I appreciate all the information, Sir!
