ya'll ever look at the many 4 door pickups, the size of the back doors? some of the back doors are about 1/2 the size of the front ones, so I figger there prolly ain't much room in the back seat of those! I saw a Nissan pickup the other day and the back door was bigger than the front door by lots, maybe it was a Toyota pickup? I couldn't get up to that truck to see in the back seat for room. this is another reason I keep my '97 4 door pickup, it has a lot of back seat room. my 6'5" BIL says he has plenty of leg room in my truck. I think it was Dodge that had a real small back door, looks like it should just been an extended cab instead of a 4 door one. ferd back doors seem smaller on the new pickups as do the GM ones too! i'm gonna keep my older 4-door truck as long as I can just because of this.

I have noidea what 'they're' thinkin.....There's a series of Fords with 4 doors on a 'regular' cab ! back doors are about a foot wide, maybe 14".WTH ?? Idiots... lots of extra weight ,parts, design went into that for what ??? Guy next door 'parts out' trucks. Likes chevies cause they have 2 bolts, slide off pins, good for 3-4 models, several years. Ford..4 bolts, heavy, good for 1 model, maybe 3-4 years.
It's about all you see around here.. 4wd 4dr PUs....and lil riceburners.

Called garbage outlets!! You pack so much in then open the doors to let the sheit fly!! My old Extra Cab the back became a tool box, seat folded up and the floor full so when I need to clean out both doors opened and start shoveling!

My '13 Ford is a crew cab and has plenty of seating room front and back, the seats will fold up out of the way; the '99 is extended cab with kiddy seat in he back, with the rear seat folded down and some padding and carpet it makes a nice place for the black lab to ride.

I think what you are seeing are extended cab trucks and not the full double cabs. We have a '18 gmc with the extended cab and doors. There is adequate room for a passenger if they don't have too long of legs. Certainly a lot more convenient than the old extended cabs with one door and plenty of room for stuff when you go shopping. Also as dmiller said they tend to fill with stuff when you don't carry passengers.

I agree with Hubert. I had a 1978 Supercab and it had jump seats in the back. Good for the kids.. I bought a 2001 FORD SuperCREW with BIG 4 doors. Lot more room, two medium size adults or 3 teenagers could also use the space. Seats folded down to make a platform in the back.... Now I have a 2013 FORD SuperCREW. The back doors are HUGE. Rear seat folds up to make a large area for loading things you don't want in the weather. Fold it down and 3 LARGE ADULTS can easily set in the back seat.   2013 FORD CREW is definitely the best truck I have ever had ........... going on 2 months.

I've never in my life had a need for a 4 door pickup. 99% of the time I'm he only one in it. If the nurse and I want to go to symphony, we take the car. If another couple wants to ride along, we take the Cherokee.

The pickup has a specific job to do. Haul lumber. Not people.
I still gots my A/C but it's clear out in the barn now.

Never could figure WHY anyone would want 4-door pu.!!!--- 4-doors and 4' bed vs 2-doors and 8' bed! My tire guy has a Chev. that is 4-door-8' bed and the doors are full sized, but MOST of them are too short to haul anything. --such a waste! lol!!!---just my 0.001!! thanks; ac fleet

I thought that the biggest waste was when the put in all the gadgets, the carpeting, the plush seats.  WTH, this is a farm truck.  How do you get the cow chit out of all that?!?!
I like power windows though.....

Les........ I use the 4 door to do the job of a pickup and the Cherokee. No reason to only haul lumber..... but I do my fair share of lumber / blocks / misc.

We've had an 02 Chevy four door pickup with a full 8 foot box on it since 2003. It's been one of the most reliable and useful vehicles we've ever had. Raising four kids, we've been able to turn pick up/ delivery trips into family vacations. Can't hook a goose neck trailer up to a car, nor can you fit two parents and four kids into a regular cab pickup. Center counsel in front seat folds down, so one kid always went there, and three in the back seat. Everyone buckled in. Put a big ole plastic tote in the box for luggage. It still got used around the farm. It does have carpeting in it, and it did get dirty from time to time. But it was cleanable, and we weren't trying to impress anyone with its cleanliness. Just wanted to use it as much as we could. It is a big long old boat, but let me tell you what, that length makes it ride and drive like no other. And I guess when you live out in the styx where we do, it's usually not a problem. In the Wal mart parking lot, just have to park a little farther back so I can take up two spaces. I drive a semi, so I damn sure hope that a four door long box doesn't challenge me. Darrel

Pickups used to be a work truck.  Now they are high over priced luxury cars with a bed on back to haul some things.

Personally I like 4 door trucks and they come in real handy during hay time to haul the hired help back and forth to the hay fields. All the trucks we have are 4 door Fords with long beds so going to town you have to watch where you park.

AC...it's a GMC. and yes the back seat area does fill up fast. but it sure is handy when out of town shopping and you can puts the stuff in the back seat area to keep it clean and dry and usually safe. my 4 door truck has the long box too, and as Darrel says the ride is great! it's also a 1 ton 4x4. it rides just as nice as my old Caddy did. if we had a long trip to go on, we'd take the 1-ton, and leave the burb home.

I've got a 01 ram with the half width suicide doors. Nice for storing stuff. I put my tools back there during college ( also had the bed toolbox full) also nice for guns when hunting over my regular cab ford. Since the ford is 2wd I don't take it hunting. Well that and the space behind the seat is filled with subwoofers from my high school days

We repoed a ferd 4 door several years back. The back seat was completely full of garbage, level full with the top of the front seat. That mess completely filled our dumpster. Had the useless 5.4 motor. Needless as soon as it was cleaned up it went to a dealer auction. That garbage load seems to be more the usual than the unusual. I made the mistake of buying a 3/4 ton ferd, 7.3 jokestroke motor, auto. 2 weeks after I bought it, tranny went out, 2-3 weeks that darn motor crapped out, ferd wanted $10000.00 to fix the motor.   Rode like a steel wheeled tractor on rock, full 4 door, 8 foot box. Needless to say that hunk of junk went to a dealer auction too.

Since farmers are the other 1%, I'm guessing most of the 4 door pickups are sold to people to pull their trailers with the kids in the back seat.  Horse trailers, camper trailers and most important trailers hauling antique tractors (and maybe cars) to shows, with the whole family.  Stopped at the Richie Bros. auction site today, they had a whole row of ferd and dodge 4 door one tons with flatbeds or service boxes, ex oil company trucks, all newer then anything I own.

P.S. Nice looking pickup AND toolbox, Dan!

I got a peep at a review of the new ford ranger, for '19...  Only coming out as 4 door. I don't understand why they don't make a 2 door strippy, like I would buy!  A 4 door 4wd wheelbarrow seems to be their answer to all their marketing research...Thumbs Down

Not even close to the biggest cab dodge. Dodge had the mega cab just before they took the dodge emblems off and renamed them to Ram trucks. It felt like driving a school bus. Crew cab with extra almost an extra foot and an 8' bed only came in 1 ton.

Well boys and girls, that's why they have chocolate and vanilla !
I have two, a dually and a single rear tire, both full 4 doored 8' beds, I wouldn't have anything less, room for everyone when needed, rides great with a full load, and you can walk through the rear seat area of mine, only drawback I've seen is the tight squeeze getting into the compact car only parking places!Tongue

Joe, with either one of those you can just take up 2 or 3 spaces and if there is a compact car in the way just shove it over a few spaces. Evil Smile Both of those are nice trucks.

I have a 2015 Ford Supercab. Great when we have the grandkids and go to the cabin. Plenty of room. My son has a full 4 door because of the kids. I don't need another vechicle sitting in my drive to use on occasion. If just us and people who really just need a pickup bought them they would not make very many. The demand is there so make them.

I have two 4-door pickups.  Both Dodge, or as the Italians insist, Rams.  One is a Quad Cab with the smaller back doors.  The other is a Crew Cab with larger back doors and more space in the rear seat.  Like the Crew Cab the best.  Ram also offers a Mega Cab.  Back seat is like sitting in a living room.  Was at a Ram dealer yesterday & noticed a 2020 model with a Quad Cab.  Surprised they still offer the Quad Cab.  They're fine for children but tight for adults.

Shameless,
Sorry I guess it turned into a truck show?:)
2015 F250 super crew, hauling a ton of 2% sugar water.

I like the extra room. Especially for huntin duds, rifles and grandkids, or great grandkids! There not just work trucks anymore. Guess that's why Ford is moving away from cars. Also take a look at the safety ratings in crash tests. What would you want your family in?

They can haul orange tractors too. Love the Powerstroke!

And campers:

Regards,
 Chris
