    Posted: 19 Nov 2018 at 2:33pm
Supposed to have "electronic ignition" (Micra pacemaker) installed tomorrow, supposed to stay in the hospital overnight just for observation. Cardiologist says my heart rate is dropping too low at night when I am sleeping. Hopefully I won't be on light duty for too long, I've got too much I need to get done.

Prayers that all goes well.

My dad had one some were in the late 1980's,gave him close to 20 more years. Between batteries and wire replacements he had 3 or 4 different units. But like all things electronic I am sure they last even better today.

All his uncles on his mothers side just had there heart stop during the night.  Doc's option was he was in for the same without the pacemaker. He stayed very active the first 10 years with it till other things slowed him down.

You'll be OK,,Hubert,,,Clap They put a pacemaker/defibrilator in me bout 3 years ago after I had that heart attack while Deer huntin,, If I remember right it took him bout an hour to do the whole thing. Then they make you wait on table for bout an hour,,then Xray you to make sure the wire is still just in the heart.
The one thing I wisht they'd a done different, it to inbed it a little deeper as I have hit it several times on an edge and GOSH,,it smarts!!!!! They also told me to not get around any welding machines,,,but I told him thats what I do most of my work and he sort of relented and told me to stay as far away from the actual machine as possible,,,??  He also told me to not carry my phone in shirt pocket,,,,,so you wind up doing like them girls and put it in rear pant pocket,,,just don't forget it's there when you sit down,,,,CRUNCH!!!!LOL

Thank all of you for the prayers and well wishes. Mine will not have any wires, the entire thing is inserted in the heart through the femoral vein (groin) and the batteries are supposed to last about 12 years. They can fine tune it, read it, etc from the outside.

Dang Hubert that is some high tech stuff you all have down there in the peach state.  never heard of such a thing.

My wife is on her second one of those big uns that Joe talked about.  On those kind, when the batt reads low the whole thing is replaced Confused.  had that done once already.

So now they (where I am located)  have a thing a ma jig that sets by the bed and communicates with the center when something is not going right with the ticker.  it has a cell module for transmitting and it travels with us.

Hey I/we are looking for a good report when this happens.

The Doc says I am heading that way, since my rate dips below 60 but not 50 yet.  i am not looking forward to that but I think is will be a lot better than what the Marines refer to as  dirt nap.  Wink

Praise the LORD everything went great. Again, Thank all of you for your concern and prayers. Did have one problem, after the implant I had to lie flat of my back for four hours and I must have had a pinched nerve or bulging disc in my lower lumbar and my back was killing me! All the pain meds did were to make me nauseated and with my moving around the insertion site at the femoral vein started bleeding. After 20 minutes of direct pressure, another 4 hours on my back. When I finally got to sit up the pain was gone in less that 10 minutes. Had some real cute nurses there. I am not responsible for anything I did or said while coming out from under the anesthesia am I??? My loving wife was there today to keep me in line but I was left unsupervised last night.

GREAT newss Hubert!!  Thanks for the update.
I'd a come help too, but it's just tooooo darn far to drive a tractor to help out.  Lemme see,,,, 1,050 miles at 12.3 mph....far as I can guestimate....3 months to get there, NON STOP...  now you know that ain't gonna happen, a guy's gotta eat and sleep an you gotta stop for gas,,,, so if I left now,,,,,,be about a year.
Maybe I should just drive my truck down and I can steal er,,,um,,,,use one of your tractors...hehehe

You DEFINITELY aren't responsible for ANYTHING that happens when under the influence of anesthesia.  Or for the next 24 hours....hehehe...one time when I had some smoke inhalation, I had to spend overnight in the hospital.  Every 4 hours the nurse had to come in and put this inhalator on me and clear my lungs.  She was a KNOCKOUT and it took my breath away when she came in the room!!  How come they have to unbutton the top 3 or 4 all the time??  Anyhow,,,,,when she first came in and put the machine on me, she says; "Don't try to block the flow of oxygen".  Well of course you just GOTTA do that then don't cha??   Well, I'm listening to ANY nurse after that!!!  The pressure just got tooooo much for my poor little tongue to hold back, so ,,,,,, BAM,,,,,, it all come in at once.  She's laughin while I'm dying from having my lungs blowed up like balloons!!  An what's she say,,,,,,,"I told you not to do that".....  I still think of her when I intake a good breath of cold winter air....

Now you just take care an listen to them nurses,,,,cause if you don't,,,,,,it COULD kill ya!!

Oh yeah, I don't know if you learnt this whence you was just a kid, but do not,,,,DO NOT,,,pizz on any lectric fenses....
