 Topic: Ejector/Sewer Pomp Longevity

I must be going on over 15 years on the sewer pump in my basement/lower level. It is very seldom used now since all the grandies are out and about now. However you never know when someone will use it and the water softener is plumbed into it also.
Should I replace it for the hey of it?
Hope Pat chimes in here.
Also if the answer is to can it, any advice on the replacement?
It looks like Pat gave me some dynamite advice on the sump pump replacement.

Zoeller 267 2 inch ejector is what I recommend.
Is anything going to get damaged if it fails ? Surprising how long they can last . Best bang for your buck is to let it go until it fails. Usually when family is around on a holiday.

Thanks for the model recommendation Pat. I will go that route if and when. I'm still on the fence.
I am going to look into putting an alarm in that hole. We seldom go in that area and if it overflows at 2 am because the water softener is running, I will be in for damage down there.

We moved into here in 2012, this home was built in 1994, the softener dumped into the sump crock and the sump pump would not run because of rust, the footings drain also has a tile drain going away from the house. I moved the softener drain hose outdoors to the eve trough drain, no more salt in the new pump I put in to make Insurance Co. happy.

keep the sump pump there and working...maybe a water line might burst or water coming in thru a wall or floor after a big rain? when it rains anything over 3 inches here, I gots a geyser that shoots water up thru the center of the basement floor.

Dusty, you have a good set up there. My footing drains go into a sump pump, since i am kind of a flat lander and have to keep the "bilge" pumped out.
The discharge from the water softner has to be pumped up to the higher level also, so I chose to have it go in the sewage pump. Ouch, I never thought of that rust issue.
