I feel yer pain Joe. I'm a little upset my 4.9 in my brick nose 4x4 only gets 11-13. But I need to find a site where I can calculate my non stock tire size with those 31/10.50-15 tar's on there. Maybe I'm coverin more ground than the odometer says. That Nissan all stock or do you got it all jacked up where you can see Nebraska from the drivers seat?

Cut exhaust pipe off right after cat. Drive somewhere you won't mind a mess. Take a big long rod and 4 pound hammer. Drive rod through exhaust pipe. Start vehicle and watch platinum pellets fly out the back. Use s clamp to reseal exhaust pipe

I checked out some YouTube videos and most people use two of the spark plug non-foulers and screw them into the collar where the sensor was on pipe and that "fools" the ECM when the catalyst is rodded out or cat replaced with one of those test pipes,,,,, I'm gonna pull the cat in the mornin cause it gots flanges on both ends,,,,,and then,,,,and then,,,,I'll make sure and wipe off any ,,,,"Incriminatin evidence",,,,er,,,just make sure it looks unmolested,,,,,,I'm outa here,,,,,

That’s what you get when you have a vehicle controlled by a computer 👎

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

yeah ..computer...sigh.. 99 CRV blew out the front O2 sensor , so 'mechanic' replaced with after market one..too lazy to use old one....time passes ..engine light comes on... 'cat not rdy'..I dig into it..seems the computer 'gurus' set the trip points in the computer a tad 'fine' so you need the $$$$ O2 sensor. I tried another after market one( $20 delivered) and it was OK for awhile. Sad thing is there's NOTHING wrong with the cat( it's new), just the computer program. I timed it just right this year..got all lights off, computer happy, had E-test done( they just read computer..NOT gases coming out), so good for 2 more years. Jay

Your computer will never be happy with a test pipe or a hollowed out cat. Put a can of sea foam in a half tank gas and drive it hard. You can remove the cat and fill it with very strong hot water and dawn soak and reinstall. But that's a lot of work. I hate exhaust work so tommorrow I'm taking my $250 Pontiac transport beater in and having a new exhaust installed. It'll cost as much as I paid for the car but it worth it.

Well,Dave,,,I was gonna take the cat off,,,either for clean out or rod out. I checked out several YouTube videos on cleaning em out with some of ole Shameless's favorite stuff,,,just plain old Vinegar,,,ugh,,,,,,,they show pics of before and after and looks like the vinegar does work. I'ma try that first but,,,,but,,,me bein a person of short patience,,,if cleanin with vinegar don't do the trick,,,,it be out with the crow bar,,,,,,,,,

The last one I did, I used a long 1/2" extension and rammed it in and dumped it out til it was empty. Unfortunately you can't buy the test pipes anymore, at least in MI you can't. If your handy, you can make one and weld it in place. The problem you run into now is they are attached to the manifold so if you want to replace it, you'll need a pipe with a flange on one end.

I thought that I read once (maybe even on here) that the platinum in those catalytic converters is some valuable stuff. Is there anything to that. ..? Darrel

Back when the price of junk iron and aluminum and all was all so high,,there was this group of locals that were scavanging the cats off parked cars and trucks. They carried generators with saws alls and was just cuttin em off the vehicles. Then when that dried up they were actually stealin em off operating cars. I got asked several times if I wanted to sell the cats of our two vehicles. You even seen em for sale in the want ad papers,,,,,,don't have any idea what the platinum was sellin for Tho,,,,

the platinum is only valuable if its still in the converter. Its illegal for a recycling location to except your platinum if its out of the converter.

Well,,I got under the Nissan trk this mornin and,,,,and,,,the friggin catalytic convertor has already been replaced with a piece of exhaust pipe,,,so,,WHAT THE HECK TRIGGERED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT?? I checked out some more YouTube videos and see where some people remove the second sensor and install TWO of the old timer "Spark Plug Non Foulers",,then reinstall the sensor in the top non-fouler after drilling it out where the sensor will fit inside the non fouler,,,Done it all like they said and fired thet mother up and ran it down the road plumb to the county line road and back just as fast as I wanted to,,,,and,,,and,,,believe you me,,that dang engine started to run smoother and smoother with more power the more I drove the piss out of it,,SO,,I done it again just for good measure,,,!! I am impressed with the difference in the engine now,,!! And the check engine light never offered to come back on,!! Ole Shameless is gonna be impressed now but he won't mind that the price on the trk just went up a bit,,,and him wantin it so bad,,,
