My Jacobsen mower when going up a hard grade makes a noise. Doesn't do it on the flat, just up a hard grade. Doesn't lose any speed , just a high pitched chirpy noise.Deck is hydro and doesn't lose speed either. What would cause this? Thanks Tracy

combines are the same way, it's just working/pulling harder than usual, shouldn't worry about it.

I was wondering what causes the noise and where it comes from? Could it be air in system or restriction? Just wondering. Tracy

the further you push that lever ahead, the more fluid it takes, might be sucking sum air with the fluid

| ONLY going uphill ?? If it doesn't do it going DOWN the same hill, it's probably a little low on oil ,cause it's all at the back of the hydro unit. Hopefully you can check and add oil if needed. A LOT of JD riders 'self destructed' the hydro units..cause was 'built in' from the factory too ! | |

I replaced filter and checked oil. Didn't stop the whining noise. It has high and low stick, then uses a pedal for direction and speed. Tracy

we rebuild quit a few tuff torq trans axles each year if you change the oil right now the noise might go away and it will live a long time and it might allready need to have the pump gone through if this is a tuff torq use 5-50 mobil 1 full synthetic .  john deere , husqvarna and most of the  others brands use this brand of trans axle

| My toro Z makes more squawking noise and jerks more each year. I think it i the sign of things to come.  BTW, it loves to go down hill and is quiet as a mouse while doing so. | |

No belts on this mower. Deck is hydro too. Just wondering what would cause the noise? My AC mowers don't whine at all. My Wheelhorse mowers do whine some. Thanks Tracy

commercail grade mower totaly diffferant stuff , might put a gauge on the pump tee in the line and a flow control in line inthe return to tank and look at the preasures and then tighten down the flow control to bump the preasure up if its low and see what it does  doing that use caution it will heat the oil fast and you dont whant to over presure something but you should be able to figure out if the pump is going down or a drive motor

Might also take a tour around the mower with a laser thermometer, and see if any one component is putting out more heat, than the others are...
