This is my first time posting, have followed this forum for many years.  I have an 8070, 7040, and a  W D 45.  All of them are work tractors.

The question that I have is on the 7040 when using the PTO and you shut it off it seems like it immediately goes to the braking position.  The implement that you are using comes to an abrupt stop.   The tractor does not allow the PTO to coast to a stop.  Is this normal? Is something out of adjustment?  Thank you for any advise.

About the best you can do is slowly idle the engine clear down and then disengage the PTO.

I was told it was normal. We do idle it down before we shut off the PTO.   I was hoping that there was a way to correct this problem.  Thank you for replies.

If it is a big deal, the brake disc can be disabled so there is no brake. The downside to that is the PTO will always creep without being hooked up to something.  Choose what you want.
