I think I bought one tonight for $1000. On axle is not functional (shaft removed), ac not working. Has 2 tires that are supposedly new, other 2 are worn. Has loader with grapple forks. Perkins engine. Supposedly runs good a loader works. Going to get it Saturday. Mostly just want it to move snow and for moving things around yard. I know finding parts may be iffy. Am I outta my mind, or did I do ok?

I've used a neighbor's loader on the front and 3 point in back runs a hydraulic post augers very well. Has great hydraulics and is nearly impossible to get stuck. Most parts are fairly common. You really need 4 matching tires or you'll tear up the drop box. It's kinda expensive and you have to remove the cab to get to it. Of love never driven a articulating tractor be carefull.youll really like it for snow removal put a blower on the back and when you use it turn the operator platform and your operating looking forward at the snow blower that use to be the back of the tractor . You also have a PTO at each end and can put the front 3pt on if you take the loader off. I think you got a great deal. Only thing my neighbor has put onto his are tires and hydraulic lines.

This one is a bare bones model, so no 3 pt at both ends. Basically just a loader tractor. I run payloaders at work all day long, do I'm used to the articulation.

Should have known this deal was to good to be true. 3:00 this afternoon the seller calls and says he decided not to sell. Got the feeling someone offered him more money even after we had the deal done.
Called a relative that lives in the area. Confirmed that was probably what happened. Family has a reputation of bad business dealings. My relative used to do custom hay grinding. Learned fast that if they called, he was too busy to work for them. What burns me the most was they advertised it on Facebook and I agreed to the advertised price. Gave the seller a bad review for what good that'll do. |

The ball is in your court if you posted on Facebook you accepted his offer. I'm in an Ag Law class, and we've been covering that sort of issue. If I've been paying attention in class...what this guy did is illegal, unless he specifically revoked the offer before you accepted (which apparently he didn't). If you have it in writing that he agreed to sell it to you for $1,000, and you accepted his offer (text, e-mail, Facebook) you can take him to court for damages. Either he pays you $1,000 (to cover the value of where you would be if you had the Versatile) or comes up with a Versatile 150 of equal value; either the one he sold or another. You have all 5 of the necessary elements of a legally enforceable contract. 1. Legally competent parties (You're both over 18 and not drunk, right?) 2. Proper subject matter (Versatile 150s aren't contraband, right?) 3. Offer (He offered to sell it for $1,000) 4. Acceptance (You communicated to him you'd buy it for $1,000, right?) 5. Consideration (Consideration shows voluntary entry into the agreement, so as long as you agreed to pay $1,000 and he initially agreed to sell for that, there is consideration). All 5 of those- Boom...contract! Legally enforceable. I think I got that right anyway... If it were me, I wouldn't pass this off so easily...take it to court! After all, the law is on your side here.

As I recall from my Business Law classes (depending on which state), "in a form as required by law." In other words, is a written contract required? I'm not a lawyer and I'm not giving legal advice. Just know it can be more complicated than that, Creston. If you want to enforce this 'contract' than I'd suggest getting a real lawyer. You'll probably find that it isn't worth it.

The whole deal is sitting kinda sour with me. Like it was a scam. The guy wanted to know my address, and exactly what time I would be coming to get the tractor. It's almost like they took the time to drive past my place to see what I have sitting in my yard. Probably won't take him to court, but may have a visit with the sheriff.

Perhaps paying a lawyer $100 to send him a letter would be productive. OTOH I'd prefer to not do business with the likes of him in the first place.

Talked to local sheriff tonight and he's gonna contact the sheriff in the seller's county. Hopefully they go have a talk with him and it rattles his cage enough that he won't pull something like this on someone else.
Guys at work mentioned maybe it was stolen, and that's why it was so cheap. Sheriff thought it could be a possibility. |

Well Creston, all 5 elements were met. Problem is the purchase agreement was verbal over the phone, nothing in writing. Even if I was able to force the sale, get the feeling it would be a bad deal. Who's to say he wouldn't sabotage it out of spite.

Sorry to hear that. I was told verbal contracts apply, but it's pretty hard. You're right...with the way this guy has been dealing, he might be the kind to sabotage something like that. Best of luck finding another!
