I am currently stumped by how the oil got so contaminated,and will a drain fix it? secondly can anyone shed some light on why the oil line goes to the oil cooler in front of the radiator, does a loop around the engine then back to the cooler before going back into the trans? (Two quadrant oil cooler) thanks in advance.

Transmission oil goes thru a cooler in the bottom of the radiator much like most cars and pickups do. My guess is the tractor sat outside in a driving rain and the dipstick tube underneath the seat fits loosely in the transmission casting allowing water to get in there. A bad radiator cooler usually puts trans oil into the antifreeze.

If it has set for a long time with a bad cooler, engine water will go into transmission.
Oil goes through cooler and back to transmission. MACK

Ok, Dr Allis answered it, the tractor I am working on must not have original radiator, no oil fittings on it, explains why someone retro fitted the dual quadrant oil cooler up front and my trans oil lines do a complete loop around the engine, just to go back through it. Further more I am not the owner of this tractor it is my landlords, he doesn't see the need to spend money on a service manual! So from researching this site mostly I have gained the knowledge that i had to suck out extra oil from dipstick tube, now I must pull plate from bottom to clean the pickup screen. Is there any more details I am missing? P.s I already blew out all lines and the oil cooler with compressed air.

I forgot to add, yes dipstick tube was loose, and tractor didn't have a roof for years!! It has homemade roof now and i even rtv'd the tube in. Hopefully doesn't happen again. I cannot believe the way some people treat tractors.

There are (possibly) two more drain plugs for the transmission area even after you drain the suction screen area. Each drain plug takes an 1 1/8" wrench. One for sure is directly behind the batteries and above the front of the main hydraulic pump. It will be there for sure. The second plug is forward of that and just behind the hole in the bottom of the bellhousing if it is still the original 7050 configuration. Each plug has a plastic gasket/washer on them. Transmission holds 7 1/2 gallons of oil. Filter is to the left of the engine oil fill neck bolted to the side frame.

Best to use red or green Loctite after a good cleaning of the dipstick tube. RTV may not hold it tight for long.

I drained those first, I went off a photo that was in a thread labeled "7050 Transmission Questions" where more arguing was done than questions answered. My tractor looks like the one in the picture that said person got from a book.

One of the things I learned on the forum was to use a socket just a hair bigger than that tube and pound it in there, take the tube out first though. It will expand that just a little so you can tap it in solid. I used a little red locktite also. I think it was Mack that brought up that fix. I did that to 3 of mine a couple of years ago and the tubes are still snug.

Use some sort of suction pump to suck out all the oil through dipstick tube. MACK
