Any 190 XT could be as old as 1964 or as new as 1971. Newer is probably better.  The 190XT diesel was rated at 94 HP and didn't have a true "live" PTO, if that makes a difference to you. Tractor has 8 speeds and road gear is 15 MPH. The 7000 probably has 38 inch rear tires where the XT will have 34 inch ??  The 7000 also has a true "live" PTO that is 540/1000. It is rated at 106 HP, has 12 speeds and a 19 mph road gear.  For whatever little more $$$$ the 7000 may cost, it is probably well worth it.

the 190xt is a 1970 with the right hand controls and actually looks really good also has a loader on it. the 1979 7000 has 4000 hours showing on the tach and is rough so my guess is the 7000 may may bring less than the 190xt  thanks for you input

If its a 1970 then it should have a series III decal on the front support for the hood. But people will put different decals on so don’t let that fool you. Get the serial number off the left side torque tube and confirm on the tractor data website. The series III had the heavy rear end which is a plus. The 190XT is a great tractor for hay. Once you get the hang of the power director, it’s a great tractor for a haybaler, haybine. Maybe a little slow for a discbine but I honestly haven’t tried one behind mine. I would think 6th gear would be plenty fast in most fields pulling a discbine. It should have plenty of power for one up to 10’ width. I pull our 9’ AC390 haybine in 4th gear. Any faster and I would be pushing the haybine too fast.
The 7000 is a good tractor for the reasons described above, but I certainly would not pass up a sweet. 190XT series III. They are well known to be fuel efficient with plenty of power. Also very nimble and smaller in size than a 7000 if you have tight fields. Just my opinion, but the XT is one of the best AC’s to ever come off the line.

I always liked a 190 series 3 everything is at hands reach. And sure are pretty.

Now a 7000 Black belly is a better I would say machine as far as updates. Never liked them with 38 not enough guts to pull them. But that can be the same thing with the 190. Just my opinion

We had a 200 once that we put a m2 engine in and it had 38s good row crop tractor but was just hard on using for chores

I would say just depends on what they bring

Having baled hay as a custom operator nearly my entire at home growing up life, I can tell you the newer 7000 will be much nicer, the only disclaimer is, I have never actually used a 7000 for more than working on one we didn't own, all ours were 7020s or above, so the transmission and how it really operates in field use, is NOT something I am familiar with.  The rest of the 70xx is far superior to the 190xt.

Kind of like the difference between the Apollo Launch vehicle, and the Space Shuttle, both were amazing for their day, both will get you to space, but the Shuttle kicks Apollo's butt in almost every measurement, because it has all the improvements learned in Apollo, since it is the newer model.

Buy them both! LOL!

I love my one ninety XT for baling, but you need to be ready to get used to using the power director instead of stepping on the clutch. For some that comes easy; others not so much. The 7000 will be a quieter cab, very possibly will have stadium lights, remote mirrors, AC, heat, both 540 and 1000 PTO's, and some other creature comforts that the XT won't have. The cab on the 7000 is a little bit of a tight squeeze to get into, but once you're in there, it's pretty cozy. Darrel
