 Topic: WD45 Restored Tractor Pictures

My son and I are beginning to restore a 1955 WD45, 6-Volt, WF. I am in need of receiving detail pictures from fully restored tractors showing different views of parts and locations to understand how components of a finished product are routed and connected. For example, we need to replace the gas tank support with light bracket. There are two holes on the bottom of the bracket. A picture from a restored tractor showing what pieces goes up into those 2 holes, presuming either the main wiring harness or two wires, one for each 6-Volt light, or Traction Booster line, will be fantastic. Another picture I need is of the small round clamp, about 1/2" Dia. and whatever it holds..??.. that is attached with a short bolt, on the underside of this same tank support bracket. There are many great pictures on the internet, however, very few that show the restoration component details. Your help will be appreciated. Not everyone's restorations will be totally identical. I have an unmolested original that I can take pictures of, tell me what you are looking for first.

I'd be looking at a good original like the one Andy just sold. I wouldn't trust a restored tractor unless I knew whoever did it really knows their stuff.

wow, Myron. thanks for the eye candy! I personally would be afraid to either work OR "restore" a truly as delivered original. niiiice to look at and drool tho.

I wouldn't restore a true original, for personal reasons. You can restore a machine an infinite amount of times, but it's only original once. Once you restore it, the unique character of that machine is irretrievably lost, and it just becomes "another shiny tractor" in the lineup at shows.
But, if it's an "all original" heap of rust, well that's another story.

 I like them as close to original as possible. This one has newer fenders on it.

You all have made great points that I will carefully pay attention to during the restoration. I appreciate the manner of you guys cautioning me to make sure the restore is done right, and that's clearly my plan. I know you're very proud of the WD45 in the photo... dueled up and ready to go! Your taking detailed pictures of this tractor is exactly what I was looking for with my request. Our 1955 WD45 tractor is in bad condition, and has set out for several years. The wiring harness and connections are essentially gone, and what is there is "jury rigged" and definitely not original. It's a fire hazard. The good news is the engine is not locked-up and we got it to run. The transmission seems to work also. We will be changing all fluids soon. I have bought operator and service manuals from Steiner Tractor.
1- Electrical wiring harness: I will be replacing the wiring harness and making connections starting with a new battery box. It will be great if you can take pictures beginning with the ground strap from box to ground location, then battery cable from box to starter, the route of the main harness as to if it goes up into one of the holes in the tank support bracket and down through another or not.. Essentially, from generator to battery box, including the starter with wiring photos. There is a small clamp under the tank support and I would like a picture of that to see what it holds --- possibly the wiring harness... maybe not. While I realize antique tractor companies will provide a schematic, I really need to see what it should look like on the tractor.
2- Hydraulic pump body: I would like pictures of the hydraulic line that runs from the front of the pump body up to the Traction Booster and how that is attached to the tank support. This Traction Booster bracket is broken on this tractor, although the hydraulic line is there. There is a plug in the pump body where the knurled fitting should go. I've found a brass fitting for it. Also, please include the Traction Booster bracket.
3- Steering shaft where it goes through the support location. It seems tractor's brace is bent and needs heated to align with the hole. I know we'll need to install a new bushing.
Thank you very much for your time and help to me. It is truly wonderful to have people help one another to get these old tractors running. If there is any advice you have for me before beginning with this, please let me know.

maybe not. - That holds the positive battery cable in place. This picture shows the valve body and wiring harness...
