Son was running our 850 on finisher yesterday and steering went nuts. Turn the wheel all the way around and it suddenly turns real hurky jerky same other way have to turn the wheel all the way around both ways for it to respond..is this the orbit motor..all other hydraulics are fine

It has two cylinders on it.so are you saying because it will turn just not responsive on first motion of steering wheel that it's the cylinders not the motor

As a general rule of thumb, orbitrols (steering motors) for open center hydraulic systems never go bad. They leak once in a while and that's about it.

So you are leaning towards the steering cylinders then Dr. The steering wheel turns easily just no response till you've made about 4 revolutions of the wheel

Disconnect and plug the lines or hoses at ONE steering cylinder and test it. Then, reconnect it and do the other cylinder. Yes, this means having caps or plugs for testing.
