There is hi temp paint good to 2000 degrees. I think VHT is the brand I have used on headers and mufflers.

VHT. Carefully follow the curing instructions after you paint your muffler.

Good heavens go to Lowes and buy some black grill paint. I did that years ago and still look good on my 6080.

I have a spray can of Ace Hardware Heat Resistant Paint. It says good for grills, muffler stacks, and manifolds among other things. Supposed to withstand 800 degrees F continuously and up to 1000 degrees F intermittently. Part number 17188, bar code says 17188 brown. I presume they have black, I want to use this to add details to a fiberglass door where the sun through a storm door has burned the paint off. Its dark brown.
12 ounce spray can says it covers 15 to 20 square feet. Gerald J. |

I have tried several special exhaust paints. I now use Rust-Oleum "High Heat", for Grills and Wood stoves, lasts far longer than anything else I have used.

This ought to get a rise out of Shameless, but JD probably can't be beat, both heat and durability.

wrecker, rick, stan & me. rustoleum.
I found it best to bring it up to operating temp for a short time first time - seems to sorta "set" it. but then again, that might just be a subjective observation.

The instructions on the Ace spray can suggested setting the paint without getting as hot as it is supposed to withstand the first time.

all the barbequee paint and rustoulim last a little while used that stuff for years hook the diggers to it for five minets or in the rain working a little its gone . you can get vht from any parts store . we used rustolem barbequee black on the headers on my buddes pulling truck it was gone the first pull used the vht the last two years and has not burned at all. i will try any brand or kind at least once , every tractor that leaves our shop that has had the hood off gets the pipe painted and straightened because it seems like a lot come with a crooked pipe . so it leaves black or silver and straight and know that my customers like that little extra
