Depends on the D-10. Around here, early ones from $1500 running, and up. Get into series III in good shape, $3-5K...

Dave's prices would be accurate for NC, but in your area a lot higher. Be careful if you consider a D10 that is not running because it my be a gear jumper.

If you find one with the hi/lo option they are pretty rare from what I understand. I've tried to find that option to either rebuild or add to my D12. I think it was available on the D10 and D12 series 3. Someone may say I'm wrong about this but I'm virtually positive it's out there. If you find one in any condition for a reasonable price I'd recommend snagging it up. I've been watching for one on and off for about 10 years and no luck yet. But maybe someday. Here's mine I went through in the fall of 2016. |

You are correct, the hi/lo was available only on the Series III D10's and D12's. They come up for sale in our area once in a while, but a lot less than in the past.

The later ones have live hydraulics and position control. It's sometimes a problem if the splined hub at the clutch is stripped.

I have an early D10 Industrial with an Industrial loader that is a bit moreof a project than I’d bargained for. I’d be willing to sell it. If you’d be interested and would like details, PM me your email address.

Gary, I sold the tractors that were auctioned in Shell Rock, IA to D&M Equipment. All were running. They were left sitting at my place for over four years before being picked up. Shortly after that the owner died and the estate auction took place. The auction prices were close to what they were purchased for.

There was a HI/LOW, and there was a reverser tranny, too. Couldn't get both on the same tractor, though... I bought one offa friend, about 10 years ago, or so. Still cost me $750, LOL. And it took 2 years of lookin to find it...
I have a reverser tranny, that I'd sell fer the same price...

Was the hi/lo and reverser the transmission itself? I was under the impression it was all in the torque tube and that the trans was the same as one without hi/lo or reverser option. If it’s the torque tube, the what’s the difference between the one with hi/lo vs reverser? I.E... could I buy a reverser and build gears to create a hi/lo option?

Answered as best as I know, you'd need someone with a parts breakdown, to tell, after looking at parts involved. Only way I figured the one I salvaged from an I-400, was a F/R, was to twist the input shaft, with the torque tube tranny, in one gear, and compare to the other gear position. (output shaft reverses direction) F/R tranny I have came from state roads dept mowing tractor...

The Hi-Lo is a gear box ahead of the standard transmission, I believe that the torque tube is shorter.
I was looking for an Allis that could travel the roads at 10 mph or faster, so I could participate in caravans. I found a '65 D-10 ser. III. I didn't know about the 2 speed gear box or that the power shift rear wheels were extra, but I bought a D-10 from Eldon Jons that had all that, and over sized rear tires. It will do 16-1/4 mph. Very nice for the caravans. Dusty |

The housing for the hi/lo shift is part of the torque tube. The torque tube total length is 40 inches, the same as the torque tubes on four speed tractors.

No, hi/lo tractors are the same. The torque tubes for both types are the same length overall.

I'd say definitely a series II. Looks just like mine (only nicer). Although mine is a 62. You all would know better than me what years go with each series, but I thought early series III started in 63 or 64.

From aluminum side name plates, front headlights and 3-pt. set-up, looks to be a 61 or 62? I have a late 60 D12 that is very similar other than the rear finals width, POW's but I added the aluminum name plates on the hoods that originally came with transfers.
IMO, that price is pretty darn good if it is a decent runner . . . . .
