Advice welcome on how to get my steering back after blowing a hose on a steering cylinder. Tried replacing the hose and leaving connections cracked a little. Maybe there is a bleed fitting on the steering wheel?This is on a little payloader rig, not orange but it wishes it was.

we used to leave the cylinders unattached at one end, cycle them until quit jerking

I would think they would bleed themselves ! A couple full turns in each direction should remove most air .

First off... bleeding air out of a hydraulic system happens fastest...

...when you go slow.

start the engine, idle it down very slow, turn the wheel gently. if you can relieve mechanical load by jacking up the chassis so the fluid pressure doesn't have to rise in other to cycle lock to lock.

the fluid needs to be very warm. cold fluid doesn't lose bubbles worth a hoot.

most steering valves will work without pump running, if you can move the wheel a half turn each way gently, it'll eject bubbles better than energetic cranking lock to lock.

when you pressurize aerated fluid, the bubbles compress rapidly, and stay entrained. keep it calm and gentle, they'll stay large and move out rapidly.
Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.
