I was in Tractor Supply the other day and they had these filters on clearance. I picked them up for $1.39 each. I got all three they had. My guess is they plan to stop carrying them, so I got them when I could.

I noticed the box said hydraulic filter afterwards myself. They have the same cotton like material in them so I think they are the same thing.

To me a Fram C159 is a filter - period.

Use it to filter whatever you want.

My D-15 Ser II takes a Fram PH 8A oil filter.

My D-12 Ser. III takes a Fram PH 8A hydraulic filter.

Gary

................................................................

Here is a picture of a Fram C 159 on ebay.

If you look at the picture of 'a filter' on the top and side of the box,

it is not even a C 159.

Looks more like a PH 8A.

The opened filter on the left is the correct filter, but boxes are NOT the correct one. Shows holes in the filter, such as is said about the hyd filter.

WHICH filter is IN the box you got??

Ted

Look at the box in the link I posted.

Same box, same picture.

Picture is not of what is inside the box.

Look at other fram filters. Boxes and pictures are the same.

Only the sticker on the box is different, to identify the contents.

The filters I got are like the one in the open box. I've never even seen a C159 spin-on auto style filter before like the one in the other box. The filters I have don't say FRAM oil filter on them like the ones at the top of the ebay page. I don't know if there is any difference in those filters than mine or not. I'd say it's only the printing on the filter its self. Maybe the C159 is used as a hydraulic filter in some applications.

I'm betting that picture gets used on a lot of boxes regardless of the contents...that's why it shows a couple of different filters.

The local TSC store puts anything that sits to long in the bargain area,so it pays to look every time your in the store. Well if like me you go less than once a month generally.

Went to local TSC yesterday morning.  C159 for $5.49, which is less than half price so bought it.  Later in the day went to TSC across town.  C159 for $1.39.  Bought all four they had.  Other filters at 49 to 99 cents.  Bought 16 in all at that TSC.  Hit the jackpot!  Thanks for the heads up Ranse.

Went to local TSC this morning and there were 2 C159 filters for $1.39 each. Didn't need them since I sold the old "45" several years ago but I did get 2 PH8A filters for the D-17 for $.69 each. Good way to start a day!!!
