2 of my friends who brothers are giving my brothers and I this AC combine if we want it. It was their fathers. He pulled it with a 960 Ford tractor. They know we are AC nuts and what a generous gift. Our problem is storage as dad's machine shed is full. Dad had a 66 All Crop but his had a bagger and platform in front of the grain bin. Any idea what model it is? Creston?

It's a big bin 66. Bin holds 25 bushels instead of 18, like on the early small bin machines. Serial number would pinpoint what year. It's kinda below the cylinder shaft on the left side. It will start with a "B".
Looks like a good combine!

Thank you both for replying. Good info Creston about seriel number location. I thougt it looked like a 66 also. If i remember correctly they take up a majority of the highway traveling. That may be a problem if its wider than my gooseneck which i am positive it is. Probably 60 miles away. Long way to pull at 25 mph.

They should fit on an 8.5' deck, but from my experience, they barely fit. There is a way to use 2"x12"x10' boards to load the combine. You will need 2, (and a helper preferably). Place one in front of the other on the ramps. Pull the combine up onto the boards, and once it rolls over the first board and onto the 2nd, move the first board to the front. Keep winching and moving boards until the combine is where you want it, then just chain it down good.
If I need to explain that better, send me a pm with your phone number and a good time to call, and I can explain better.

You could also pull it. Just grease the hubs well with the best grease you can find, stay under 40 mph (some say stay under 25 mph), and grease the hubs well every 10 miles or so. Keep in mind these hubs usually have bushings and not bearings, although I think bearings were an option.

I would jack it up once on the trailer and set down on block to chain it down, I wouldn't rely on the tires to keep it still, that's how I brought my 72 home jacked it up and took wheels off and set on blocks!

Borrow a set of dollies from your friendly tow truck operator. Jack it up set it on the dollies and head home.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

My worry would be width, over size load. State police probably wouldn’t be happy taking up so much of the road.

I've towed a lot of over width farm  equipment over the years and never had a problem.Once towed a Roto Baler from down next to Raleigh NC right at 200 miles.
Had to change one tire was only problem I had.Works best if you have a hitch you can center up the equipment behind the tow vehicle.

60 miles isn't that bad to pull it home. I've pulled them home a lot farther just make sure to have grease with you for the wheel hubs and an extra tire or two.
35 combines and 15 forage harvesters. mostly allis combines and equipment.WTB 2 row cornhead for a 90

Or you finally have a good reason to tell wife why you want to buy that 22 Ft long 102" wide deck over trailer with winch.  The combine wheels will fit on a 102" wide.
