FYI -- way down here in south GA, the grass is still growing. Slowing down a bit, thankfully... but still growing. Have to get up early and get it done to beat the heat

I hope to only have to get the CA out one more time this fall. I'm gonna wait another week and then that's it (hopefully).

My pastures need to be mowed again this fall. Here in Kansas we have had plenty of rain and great grass growth. I won't have to feed hay for quite a while if we don't have a hard freeze early.

Lawn Mowing has slowed way down here in NE TX since it decided to quit rainin. Finally got the unused pastures shredded. Weeds jaw deep to a giraffe, Had to wait to build one mower out of 3 or 4 pieces of mowers. #1 son did a great job of piecing bits and pieces together to make one. It is doing a better than average job without putting too much strain on my Massy 1260

If we get some rain I will be moving a few more times. Mowed around the house at the farm this morning while there was still a little bit of dew to keep down the dust. Tenant may be able to get one more cutting off the hay fields.

A few days ago the mountains west of me got up to 20 inches of snow, about 3 inches of rain down here on the plains over 12 days. Talking about a hard freeze next Monday and Tuesday with a high of 40 and low in the 20's. Still have 3d cutting to do but sometime in the next two months I'll get it done. One year I baled in January, pretty decent hay.

Mine is still growing a bit too; I agree the weather has been funky. Never noticed you were from Perkins until reading you posted from "Upper Michigan". I live by Palmer so go through every time I go to the Escanaba show. |

Still mowing up here in northern NY state, about 5 miles from Canada. We have had spotty frost, but no widespread killing frost yet.

Joe Wetherford rang a bell so i had to look it up. Sure enough it is by Mineral wells and not that far from Possum Kingdom Lake. Guess it was late 68 when I arrived at Ft Walters to learn how to hover. |

I mowed last week and will have to mow again. At least it's slowed down. Next week I'll finish picking pumpkins and mow the corn down. I had a disappointing sweet corn crop it was beautiful large perfect peaches and cream. Picked a dozen the next day I went out the coons had desamated the whole patch. I put up electric fence and they finished the patch off the next night.

I mowed the last Friday in September. Mowed mostly weeds the grass isn't growing much from lack of rain and from being mowed as short as dragging the mower deck under the Snapper zero turn could cut (same as a Simplicity) a month earlier. The grass is nearly brown and has been for 6 or 8 weeks. I didn't mow enough last week to need raking. Normally if I mow every week I have to rake. That previous mowing did have enough cut grass for raking. Since then I have remounted the deck on the mower so I mowed at 4-1/2" tall instead of 2-1/2" tall.

I'm planning on sowing grass seed today and get it going good. It's been raining here now for the last 3 or 4 days. We had a REALLY dry spell from the middle of July until a week or so ago. Now it's raining just right. No downpours or deluges, just nice gentle ALL day rains. More coming for the next few days is the forecast. After NOT cutting grass for a month and a half, I'm gonna be busy the next few days, as soon as it quits raining. |
