As many already Know, I own a pretty awesome old 180, does more than I expected and hangs right in there with newer higher HP tractors as far as bush hogging, dragging heavy implements and so on.
I have a neighbor, has a 185, both our tractors have had injector pump repairs(mine fully rebuilt) yet mine sounds CONSIDERABLY healthier than his. Pulls like no tomorrow and can handle a serious amount more load. Can it be I have the wrong pump settings? Starts and runs fine although cold temps require a touch of starting fluid. Just sounds like a terror when gets into a pull! I do not wish to change anything unless is damaging but so far it seems to like it. |

Don't know much about 180's, except that I know where there is one for sale, and I desperately want to buy it. The reason being, is that my son has a 185, and we love that tractor, so we figure that we would like the 180 as well. The 185 is cold blooded as hell, though, and around mid RPM's, the engine is up and down on RPM'S. Now considering that the guy my son bought it from had pump work done on it by the same guy that did my 8070 pump, I wouldn't expect anything better. I think both pumps need a two way trip to injector pump Ed to get done right. Darrel

I have 2 180s that are totally opposites. 1 will start down to 30 degrees with no help, the other needs a sniff if its below 50

My 180D starts good and easy down to below freezing, Then I use the intake heater for about 20-30 seconds and it fires right up. Funny thing is til a couple years ago I didn't realize how to operate the heater and I've had the tractor for at least 15 years.

The 180 is probably hot because so many "rebuilders" set all of them like a 190XT, and build only one model for their exchange pump program.
