What is wrong with the engine in it? Does it have the Buda design engine in it?

Try searching this site. Several people have swapped the 7000 with the HD344. It basically fits but you may have to change accessories. The 7000 is an updated turbo charged 344

Yes it has the buda 344 engine, it is locked up tight, pulled the oil dips tic and smell diesel which leads me to believe they have Gaul dedicated a set of bearings, and possibly ruined the crank, not looking for a period correct machine just something I can use on the farm

You should investigate the reason your HD344 will not turn. You will have to do some disassembly even if you replace the whole motor. My HD344 came to a screeching stop and locked up because the generator pulley was not turning.
![]() If you choose to remove the loader it is helpful to remove the cylinder head. I had difficulty lifting the motor with a loader with a 3/4 yard bucket. Prop the loader up as shown in the picture. |

Ok thanks for the advice, I planned on trying to get the engine out of there this weekend, but I'll have to see how I feel, last fall I broke my back and it's a day by day adventure

I have done several. If you're has a brush guard-roll cage on it and if you can raise the loader completely up, CHAIN it to the Brush guard you can pull the nose or simply tilt it forward and lift the motor out the top. We found that to be the easiest way. Be very careful do not leave anything, nuts bolts, etc laying on top of the motor. Last 1 I did we left a 1" nut laying there, fan blows forward, had to spend $400.00 to fix the rad. The later motors had a bigger crank in them and were less prone to have problems. More than likely the counter balance shaft self destructed causing a rod bearing to spin. Take a close look at the block behind the injector pump, see if there is a hole there. Seen several this way. On my last 1 I was able to get a later motor, look at military surplus, used to see quite a few there. Worked well for me till I got hurt and can no longer run 1
