What viscosity of oil should I use in my 2035
straight 40wt? 30 Wt?

Also , I suppose that since the pan has two petcocks, I would fill the pan up to the lowest petcock?.  if so , what is the highest petcock for?

I dont have a spec on the oil capacity, I do not have a owners manual  yet.

Also, I would suppose that the governer takes the same oil and to the petcock as well?

thanks for the help

Paul

Either of those oils would probably be fine.  Would be way better than what was available when the tractor was new.  If the engine is not in new shape, 40 would probably be great.  I assume you won't be starting it on a -20 morning!  As far as the two petcocks, I've seen instructions that when running on low octane fuel, you are supposed to drain the oil down to the lower petcock and refill to the upper at some interval that's more frequent than for a full oil change due to oil dilution from the unburned fuel that makes it into the crankcase.  Like the other post said though, get a manual and read it.  Will always be something you didn't know or even think about.

from the operators manual:

Pan should be filled to upper petcock and oil level maintained between the upper and lower petcock.  They serve a similar function to the upper and lower level marks on a dipstick.

Governor should be filled to the petcock with same oil as used in the engine.

Thank you very much for your replies

the nice thing about his website is that you most often get real experienced replies and often times opinions and comments that  you do not get from the manual.

this is more than just a manual site !
that is why I keep coming back for more

thanks
