Bought this tractor off a neighbor of ours he bought it from someone around st louis and thats where they did the repaint on it but I need new fenders for it if anyone around south west Indiana has a pair of WD fenders I woulde consider buying some (just the fenders no brackets). Sold our 7060 to buy this tractor! Went to a good home though! Need to convert the genterator to 12 volt could I just buy a 12 volt alternator and it should go right on? Picked it up last friday and drove it the two mile haul home! [TUBE]esOtzKUhykQ[/TUBE]

Looks nice and sounds good. I've always liked the sound of a WD or 45 at idle. They just sound smooth and relaxed when idling. Yes you can go to a alternator. All of my tractors have a 10 SI GM alternator installed. You'll need a diode to prevent back feed to the distrubitor.

I just spent the day in Evansville!

There is a tractor salvage yard just outside of Gnaw Bone on 46. Last time I was there, they had a couple WD parts tractors. Only about a 3hr or so drive from Evansville.

Nice looking tractor.  An alternator will not bolt right on.  To keep it simple and looking original, you can get the generator rebuilt and converted to 12 volts with a voltage regulator.

Nice straight tractor. I love the WD's, grew up on one. I would go with a 12V generator and regulator. No lights that I see, so no bulbs will need to be changed but you will need a 12V coil or put an external resistor on the existing coil.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

Generally its cheaper to go to a used alternator than to have the generator windings rebuilt fo 12 volts, but finding a 12 volt generator may not be too difficult though they haven't been used in cars for a long time because the alternator does a better job of battery care.
