On a 1948 WD where is the serial number located? I just purchased a WD and it dosn't have number located in the usual place. The only number I could locate was oon the left axle housing.

Should be on top of the rear end casting alongside the left brake cover.

Thanks for the info I checked on the back of the housing not on the top.

It should be on the right side of the left brake cover as shown here, unless the housing was replaced at some time and it was never stamped.
