    Posted: 10 May 2017 at 4:55am
I have recently purchased a Model A Allis that was bought new by my Grandfather in 1937 here in Australia. We have had the tractor running but it had been dormant for a long time so I am going through getting a few items up to scratch but I think the Magneto has been replaced as it is a Bosch 4L18. All the notes I have seen suggest it should be a Fairbanks Morse FM, but it doesn't say which FM variant it should be. Can anyone please help?

Thanks for that, maybe the Bosch on mine is original. Photos I have of the tractor new are inconclusive.

Trav,  Based on the photos you've posted, the tractor was equipped with a Fairbanks Morse RV4B Magneto.

Being as you're from "down under" anything used here in the USA might not be what was originally on the tractor as an import.
I'm not sure how far back it goes, but I know many US exports were not allowed to be brought into your country with Starters, generators, or other electrical equipment, if an alternative was available in your country.
