Looking at an Allis Chalmers 6140 with loader. I am not that familiar with this model, what are the pro's and con's of this model and what should I look for. Thanks.

I am fixing odds and ends on one now. One nice thing is the tranny is fully synchronized. The biggest negative most people will say is parts availability. Parts are there you just have to look harder.

Thanks, we have a couple of old AC dealers within 50 miles that so far have been able to get me anything I have needed, but the newest we have are a 185 and a 175. Looking at downsizing from the 185 and want a tractor with a loader. Would prefer to stay orange but may have to look at others. The 6140 is about 155 miles away, may drive up this weekend and look at it.

Parts are easy to get for a 175 and 185. Not so much for a 6140. Only made for a few years by a company in Japan which is no longer in business. The only thing Allis about it in my opinion is the color. Personally, I would stick to those made in West Allis (175/185). |

X2. Get a loader for a tractor you have. Either one of those will make a great loader tractor |
