No answer, but a related question:  Why are the 4 bolt front axles so desirable?

Weren't four bolts made a little heavier for loader work?
The mechanic always wins.

The axle itself was essentially the same. The front pivot plate retained with only three bolts had an issue of sometimes loosening up when heavy loads/abuse was inflicted on them. Four bolts was better.

Four bolt fronts are much more desirable because. There are very few there bolt fronts that haven't been repaired. The three mounting bolts are fairly close together so any extra stress has leverage advantage over the four bolts. I've never seen a three bolt with a loader that hasn't had to be repaired and usually farmer reinforced. Hen I was looking for a wide front they usually went for over $500 and it's hard to verify the actual condition from a picture. I found a complete running tractor for $800. It was in better condition. Than the tractor I was working on so now I have a pair of them. I cringe every time I see a diesel with a three bolt . It was adaquet for a gas tractor that wasn't abused but far to week for a heavier diesel or a tractor with a loader.

If anyone is interested, I have a very good 3 bolt for sale. No repairs on it and good and tight $300 (In northern NY state, very close to the Ontario - Quebec - NY border)

My 45 has a 3 bolt. On 2 of the holes the casting was broke out so the farmer fix was a make a big frame that wraps around the whole front and uses the 4 frame bolts on the side   It's very stong. I welder friend of mine repaired the 2 holes by welding a half nut in there but I still use the whole frame fix. It makes mounting the front stack weight a little difficult.
