When attaching a factory weight bracket on a 170-175,do you use existing bolts, or buy longer ones? Thanks Tracy

I put a bracket and 5 weights on my 170 several years ago and used the factory bolts. I think someone said if you have 3/4 to inch thread left to tap in should be go to go. that's about what I had left and have had no issues.

When I removed the bracket from the 175, I had to add 2 washers to keep the bolts from bottoming out. I believe the machinery handbook requires 1.5 x the bolt Dia in cast iron @ full threads= shear point of bolt (max load required to shear bolt). Hope this helps, Kevin
