Help! Trying to find the right belt for my snowblower. Have been using a 1/2 x 55. i've had a belt last three years and some that last about 3 minutes. Wondering if I've got the right length. If this is the right size, any advice on tensioning the belt clutch? TIA.

Should be a Simp 1721533 which is 1/2x56. I have found the OEM best, followed by the Gates black belts. There is a lot of twisting at high speed on the blowers.

Thanks for the info. i will definitely get the 56" belt. The manual I have is sufficiently vague to not include belt number or length.
Do you know if both pulleys on the mounting bracket are supposed to have belt guards? Can't tell from the manual photos. |

Both idlers have belt guides. Operators manual says 3" spring length when engaged, but it's a bit sketchy on which spring that is. Don't have mine mounted this year to look at.

The correct simplicity belt is 55.5" Ive never had a non simplicity belt last more than a couple storms a simplicity belt lasts me a couple years. They twist and turn alot and off the shelf belts are sized in 1 inch increments and not designed to run on the backside while twisting around a corner.
