Yes, they were available without. Are you sure you are missing just the PTO shaft??? or is the PTO drop box is still down underneath the battery ???

The PTO shaft extends from the rear of the tractor to the underside of the transmission. About three feet long or so. There will be a drop box which is just a housing that hangs below which houses a couple of gears and short shaft that comes out the back side of the drop box. That short shaft connects to the long PTO shaft with a shear pin to protect the driveline.

It is possible that a previous owner ripped the guts out of the PTO and blanked it off with a cover at the casting and then sold the tractor. You would not be the first. Unbolt the cover that is in place and look up and see what is there. Take pics if you can.

That is supposed to be a shoulder bolt and was never intended to be a shear point. ANY tool ran of the PTO should have a slip clutch or a shear pin in it to prevent damage. |

Thanks for catching my mistake Charlie. I must have been daydreaming of the other end of that shaft. Mine also has the shoulder bolt where it's supposed to be. |

Bob4430, the pics that you sent don't show any of the external PTO parts being there. However, the right side view of the steering column support shows the loop that would support the actuator rod for PTO. There is still a good chance that the tractor originally had PTO and it has been removed.
You need to drain fluids and look inside to see what is there. Then, you can see what you need, maybe with the help of others on this forum. Here are a couple of more old threads that will help you appreciate why you need to look inside. http://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/viewtopic.php?t=1011717 http://www.allischalmers.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=70201 http://www.allischalmers.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=93382&title=wd45-hydraulic-tank-same-as-wet-clutch http://www.allischalmers.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=120328&title=how-to-or-not-to-split-wd45-replace-seals |

Here is something quick to look at. Go to the online AGCO parts listing for WD/WD45 and go down to:
Drive Train - Torque Housing, Transmission Clutch Item #16 is the Covering for the PTO Opening. If yours is original, it will likely have a drain plug installed. If no drain plug, then it is likely farmer installed and you will have to look inside to see what is left. |

In order to use the mounted plow you needed to remove the PTO shaft.
