Or any other coulter/disk that I can use instead of an original one? I got a plow with my G when I bought it, but it didn't come with a coulter, and I thought it shouldn't be to hard to find a replacement one, but it is proving harder than I thought. Any help would be appreciated.

Good luck, those coulters are concave and are used prevent side draft.

How big is it? I've seen a lot of smaller 'market garden' discs that might work for you...

It has a square shank mounting shaft that holds in at the proper angle. It can be moved up and down to put the right amount counter draft to the plow.
I've never seen another coulter with a square shaft. Dusty

According to my manual, it is a 14" concave disk coulter. Not sure what the dimensions of the shaft is supposed to be, but I could probably figure it out , except for the length, by measuring the receiver for it on the plow. I think this looks like close to the right disk. Could I just buy something like this with a hub assembly and buy a steel shank of the right dimensions? I would prefer to have an original Allis coulter, but if the only way to get the plow working is to rig up something from new parts, then so be it. What do you guys think?

Give me a couple of months and I'll measure one for all the dimensions, even the spacing of the rivet holes.

It's easy enough to turn a round hole into a square one. Just use a good file and some muscle or use a 'hole punch' of the correct size.
If, IF, there was a real market for them, it'd be simple and fast for a 'fab shop' to punch the holes. Just not worth it for one ( $$$ ??). Kinda like the front rim adapters I made for my G#2.... Jay |

In the plows parts book I referenced in AC Plows Parts 101 over in the Knowledge Forum coulters were mostly universal but I don't recall seeing any for the G plow. The universal coulters could be adjusted to fit any model plow frame because it was easy to adjust the height by where the clamp held the shank and the other side of the clamp clamped to the plow beam making it easy to adjust fore and aft. That same universality with a small coulter disk would probably fit the G plow. There might be discussion in the G implement manuals I have posted on my web site.

Hey John, the shaft is 1 1/4" square stock, here's what they look like out of the plow.
Just let me know what to measure for you and I'll be happy to do it. I'm only home every other day at the moment, my Mom's not doing well and I spend every other day being with her, but will gladly get you what you need measured at night. ![]() ![]() |

Thanks for the pictures and the measurements. Could you tell me the length of the shaft and the concavity of the disk (the distance from the point closest to the shaft to the point farthest away)? Thanks!

Should be easy enough to grind flats on a round shank.

There is place in Ohio that has G and G plow parts, but I am sorry
that I don't remember the man's name. He had bought out all of the G parts from another man who was retiring. Does this ring a bell with any of the forum members? |
