I bought new rims a few years ago for my tractor. Spinout 4-rail made by Titan. They are 13 in rims and work well with the 14.9 x 28 tires. One small problem I have is the stoppers will not both fit on. I have one on each wheel and the wheels have moved on occasion. Are there different stoppers available so I can use 2 of them? I don't have the old rims to compare but holes must be drilled differently? It is 1954 WD45 that was all stock before I changed the wheels. Thx.

Yes there's 2 different stoppers allis used. I ran into that when I changed rims on a D17. The rims I put in where off a WD45.

If you only have one working stop for each wheel, install it so that the wheel bears against it when moving forward. That should keep your wheels from moving, since most of us don't work our tractors too hard in reverse.

Yes that would work and I had thought of that already. Would like to get 4 to work if not too expensive. I see the different part numbers listed on agco parts site. Maybe I will price them. And talk to parts guy and see if they will play ball if it is not the correct one. Seems like there are 3 available. One for WD45, one for D17 and one for hi-clearance. Strangely the D17-IV lists the same number as for WD45...

Are the holes drilled at an angle to the rails like the original or 90 degrees to the rail? Each requires a different stop.

90 degree is not correct for the WD45 ones. Ed, are you coming down to Hutch this July? Are you close to Calvin Schmidt? I know for a fact he's going to Hutch......we're in the same motel... If you really want to figure this out, PM me and leave your phone # and I'll call you and get you through this.......

Holes are on angle to the rail. They are 90 degrees to the side wall of tire. When you stand to side and look they go straight in.

I couldn't get either stop type to work on a new rim I put on my D17 some years ago. I think they are made for a Massey of Ford stop or maybe the wheel eccentric are different than what the rim is made for. Also the stops do not match my old rim on the other side so my draft is off a touch. I'd like to know where to get correct rims.

I would not rely on the stops alone to hold your wheels in position. If the rims have slipped some on the rails , on a occasion; then it could be a sign the eccentrics need to be either tightened or they are getting weak with age and may want to consider inspected/adjusting/replacing those as well.
I was told more than once over the years by various tractor elders, a couple were old A-C guys, that those stops were mainly there as a convenience and not necessarily a fail-safe feature....if they were you'd think all the rails would have them. The stops helped the operator from missing his mark and over-adjusting passed the setting he wanted the rims to be when trying to power- adjust the rims from the tractor seat by himself. Don't know if this is a fully accurate statement or viewpoint or not; just something I always was told or heard. So, I always figure better be safe than sorry, so I make sure the eccentrics are good and tight and then brake the wheels hard and spin the tires without the stops and make sure there's no slippage.......then I install the stops too!

Yes Jay you are right. I did take a look when I installed the wheels but will recheck all that soon. Have done a fair bit of work to it lately. Replaced brake linings, diff seals and diff side bearings. Getting it in shape. As far as these stoppers go they fit fine but holes are too close to get 2 in place. I can get one in either in front or behind eccentric. Holes are about 4 1/4 " apart centre to centre(holes in rail). I don't have the original rims to do comparison. Sold them and don't know where the guy is now. Lots of these tractors around me so I will do a comparison.

Just some more info. Agco part number is 70219456 for WD45 wheel stop. 70232274 for D17 wheel stop. 70230832 for D17 hi clearance. D17-IV lists same as WD45 if I'm reading correctly.

Yes, I ran into the same problem when ordering stops for my early D17 once. If I remember correctly, early 17's and everything that came prior had a different style stop than the later stuff. What i found was, that most of the big after market suppliers, including ASAP, only carry the late style stops, despite their catalogs claiming otherwise.
I had to ship the wrong ones back to them at my expense, tried another supplier who again insisted they had the right ones, but nope, same thing happened, newer style ones are too "chubby" for the both of them to line up over those holes between the eccentric clamp. I couldn't tell you who would definitely send you the correct ones. Someone on here should know......I ended up getting lucky and stumbling upon some NOS ones myself.

Jay punch 70219456 into your search bar. You will see a pic of that stopper on e-bay. That is what mine looks like. I would have thought that would be an early one as mine is 1954 year. The other one I could find was 70230832 - that will not work for sure.
